Events and Music at Louis Armstrong House Museum

Please join us this Sunday for a Garden Egg Hunt (and see below for more fun and free Summer events!):

Easter Sunday, April 4, from 12 - 2pm. Free Admission.


Come with the entire family for a fun afternoon of egg hunting and arts & crafts in the museum’s beautiful Japanese-style garden. From 12 - 1pm, take your photo with the Easter Bunny! Egg Hunters win fun prizes including a special prize for finding the golden egg!

Please bring a basket. Refreshments served.

Summer 2010: Enjoy Jazz Concerts in the Museum Garden!

LAHM Celebrates Immigrant Heritage Week with
Latin Jazz in Corona
Saturday, April 17, 1-3pm. Free Admission
Celebrate the diversity of Armstrong’s beloved neighborhood by sampling the rich and rhythmic music of Corona’s talented Latin American musicians. The event will be held in the museum’s beautiful, Japanese-inspired garden.

Fourth of July Birthday Party
Sunday, July 4

Free garden jazz concert at 1pm
Museum opens for tours Noon to 5pm (special 2-for-1 admission for guided house tours).

In celebration of Louis Armstrong’s traditional birthday (July 4th, 1900), the Museum always remains open for tours and events. Join the birthday celebration with a free jazz concert in the museum garden, take a guided house tour, and enjoy complimentary birthday cake!

: Special appearance by Carol Sudhalter's Astoria Jazz Band

Held every summer in the museum’s Japanese-styled garden, these free concerts feature up-and-coming traditional jazz bands that play and promote the music of Louis Armstrong. All concerts begin at 1pm. Free admission.

LAHM collaborates with Queens Art Express
Thursday, June 10 -- Sunday, June 13
Now in its second year, this upcoming spring festival will feature performances, exhibitions, art events and great places to eat in the unique cultural communities along the route of the No. 7 train. Visit the Louis Armstrong House Museum on Saturday, June 12 for discounted house tours and for the free Hot Jazz Cool Garden kick-off concert. CareFusion Jazz Festival New York and LAHM present:
“An Evening in Louis Armstrong’s Garden”
Saturday, June 19 at 6pm
As part of the CareFusion New York Jazz Festival, the Louis Armstrong House Museum will open its beautiful garden for a concert of Louis Armstrong's music, performed by Howard Alden, Anat Cohen, Marion Felder, David Ostwald, and Randy Sandke. The star-studded event includes a bowl of red beans and rice prepared from Louis's personal recipe! Absolutely limited to the first 250 ticket buyers.

Tickets are $15 and will go on sale in early to mid-April. Check our website for updates, or sign up for e-Pops to be notified by email when tickets will be available.

Stay tuned...Jazzmobile returns to LAHM for an annual outdoor concert!
August 2010 (date TBD), 7:00 PM

In celebration of Louis Armstrong’s official birthday (August 4th, 1901) this free, outdoor jazz concert and block party sponsored by Jazzmobile kicks off every August in front of the Museum. Come hear world famous musicians as they entertain neighbors and jazz fans. Bring your dancing shoes!

Directions: The Museum is located in the northern part of Queens, New York City, close to LaGuardia Airport.

By Subway: Take the 7 train to 103 St-Corona Plaza. Choose the exit on the north side of Roosevelt Avenue, and then take the stairs on your left. Make a right (north) onto 103rd Street. Walk two blocks and make a right onto 37th Avenue. Walk 4 short blocks and make a left onto 107th Street. The Museum is on the left side, 1/2 block north of 37th Avenue.
