... and Espresso 77, around the corner on 77th St., is also doing jazz regularly.

JAZZ ON THE PLAZA RETURNS IN TRIUMPH

JAZZ ON THE PLAZA RETURNED TODAY; THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST JAZZ SERIES IN NYC, AND IT IS TOTALLY FREE! - World-class jazz every Thursday afternoon 12:30-1:45pm, Citicorp Center, NYC.

After a two-season hiatus Jazz on the Plaza at St. Peter's Church/Citicorp Center, Manhattan, is back.
The great (Professor) Antonio Hart (alto sax) led a Queens College ensemble, with faculty member (and longtime "Heath Brother") Jeb Patton on keyboards; Mavis Poole, vocals; Marcus Schulte, gtr.; Carlos Pena, bass; Silvio Morger, dr.; (apologies if names are not quite right; no written personnel list.)

Professor Hart, protege of living jazz legend Jimmy Heath, is a genius and he and his group TORE IT UP today, on a gorgeous afternoon.
I REPEAT, JAZZ ON THE PLAZA IS ONE OF THE BEST CONCERT SERIES IN NYC AND IT IS TOTALLY FREE; THIS SERIES RUNS THROUGH AUGUST AND FEATURES WORLD-CLASS TALENT AND IS NOT TO BE MISSED. ONE STOP IN FROM QUEENS, ON THE E-TRAIN.

Not Quite Queens, but Close, and WORLD CLASS


St. Peter's Church (the Jazz Church) is doing its Jazz on the Plaza series again after a two-year hiatus, starting in May 2010. (It is not in Queens but it is right above the first E-train stop in Manhattan from Queens.)

This series has featured MAJOR, world-class talent, and lots of it. Jazz on the Plaza is one of the best things about living in NYC - do not miss it.

Come with the entire family for a fun afternoon of egg hunting and arts & crafts in the museum’s beautiful Japanese-style garden. From 12 - 1pm, take your photo with the Easter Bunny! Egg Hunters win fun prizes including a special prize for finding the golden egg!

Celebrate the diversity of Armstrong’s beloved neighborhood by sampling the rich and rhythmic music of Corona’s talented Latin American musicians. The event will be held in the museum’s beautiful, Japanese-inspired garden.

In celebration of Louis Armstrong’s traditional birthday (July 4th, 1900), the Museum always remains open for tours and events. Join the birthday celebration with a free jazz concert in the museum garden, take a guided house tour, and enjoy complimentary birthday cake!

Now in its second year, this upcoming spring festival will feature performances, exhibitions, art events and great places to eat in the unique cultural communities along the route of the No. 7 train. As part of the CareFusion New York Jazz Festival, the Louis Armstrong House Museum will open its beautiful garden for a concert of Louis Armstrong's music, performed by Howard Alden, Anat Cohen, Marion Felder, David Ostwald, and Randy Sandke. The star-studded event includes a bowl of red beans and rice prepared from Louis's personal recipe! Absolutely limited to the first 250 ticket buyers.

Tickets are $15 and will go on sale in early to mid-April. Check our website for updates, or sign up for e-Pops to be notified by email when tickets will be available.

In celebration of Louis Armstrong’s official birthday (August 4th, 1901) this free, outdoor jazz concert and block party sponsored by Jazzmobile kicks off every August in front of the Museum. Come hear world famous musicians as they entertain neighbors and jazz fans. Bring your dancing shoes!

Walk two blocks and make a right onto 37th Avenue. Walk 4 short blocks and make a left onto 107th Street. The Museum is on the left side, 1/2 block north of 37th Avenue.
